When I made this work, I was noticing a ramping up of political attacks on liberals, and intellectuals, particularly in the media (obviously pre-social media) and among pundits like Rush Limbaugh, trying to disparage them (us) as a threat to society. And so what better way to get rid of them (us) than not by simply ignoring liberals and intellectuals, but exercising 2nd amendment rights and picking up your gun and dealing with them once and for all. So it's really, in part, a darkly humorous piece of self-laceration.

“Rhona Hoffman brought a work by Adam Brooks home from her gallery for another reason. Designed to look like an institutional sign, it reads: KILL LIBERAL INTELLECTUALS. "A cop came into the gallery and wanted to buy it," Hoffman recalls. "And I said, 'You can't have it; you believe it.''
A World Apart, Rhona Hoffman’s art-filled home
