Gladys Holm Commemorative Project (details); 1998; permanent installation at Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois; sandblasted glass, chrome hardware, 18 panels, each panel 22” x 14”.

Gladys Holm was a friend, philanthropist and lover of all children, who left her sizable estate to Children’s Memorial Hospital. The text panels contained within this memorial pay tribute to her enduring spirit, as well as to her belief in the power of science to change and preserve lives. Rather than addressing particular and specific aspects of the altruism of Gladys Holm, I focused on the philosophy that underlaid her approach to philanthropy, as well as her obvious love of healing and of children.
